10 Best Breakfast Buffet Restaurants in Chennai

If you are like me, you would want to do so much in this beautiful much-awaited rare weather of Chennai! Maybe a romantic evening walk in the drizzling rain by the Marina beach, savoring a hot Molaga bajji blessed by the holy wet sands. But hey It’s been long we’ve seen outdoorsy (rain-haters get off my blog) breakfast-friendly mornings like these and it ought to be cherished, dot!

I think it’s only fair to let you all know the best places to sit and have the best of breakfasts in Chennai – with a view of course! A few of these places I have been to personally and would recommend, and a few on my hitlist as it has great reviews online! While there is no substitute to the so-many roadside thattu-kadai to HSBs and Sangeethas serving hot breakfast every morning, these are starred hotel buffets we are talking about here.

Seagull, Taj Fisherman’s Cove, Mahabalipuram

So much fresh air, so many counters – a great continental spread but also a good selection of Asian breakfast – pancakes, dosas, eggs to order, seriously from Dimsums to Appam and stew, your tummy sure is to get confused for the day!

Seasonal Tastes, Westin, Velachery

It has very good reviews for having a great selection at breakfast, In-house guests love it and people go there just to sit by the pool and enjoy the morning brunch. Must-try and its on the hit-list!

Madras Pavilion, ITC Grand Chola, Guindy

You just cannot finish browsing all the sections in this buffet. So many counters and varieties even for a shameless foodie like me, number of plates keep adding up with the dishes available for breakfast. Must try the pastries and waffles, weirdly enough for a place named after the city, the South Indian is not what you should aim for here.

Intercontinental Resort, Mahabalipuram

Fresh fruits, French pastries, Eggs to order, I can’t exactly point out why but this is hands down the best breakfast buffet I have had in Chennai (sometimes it’s how the ‘quality’ makes you feel – luxurious is the word), maybe the paprika brunch comes closest. One of the largest yet yummiest buffets in town, alright a bit away from town, but what’s more Chennai than Mahabs!

Flying Elephant, Park Hyatt, Velachery

A lot of hype, and a lot of food too. You sure would say hi to a lot of local celebs here. If you are in Chennai, you need to eat your breakfast here once. Feel good ambiance, guest service is excellent, feel pampered!

601, The Park, Nungambakkam

Not my personal favourite, but I have read many reviews for this breakfast/brunch buffet. It is a bit expensive for the variety served, service wasn’t 5-star either. If you love breakfasty dishes then this is not for you, they have everything from Chaat counter to Biryani.

Spectra, The Leela Palace, Santhome

I have been here for dinner and am sure the place will look lovely in daylight. Great ambiance and view, the breakfast has good reviews online especially for their South Indian variety.

Paprika, Courtyard by Marriott, Teynampet

Sunday brunch here is ‘love’! It’s the food, the entertainment and the wine. One of the best breakfast / brunch you shouldn’t have ever missed if you have lived in Chennai. If its not too late, break your piggy bank now, it’s worth every paisa.

Cappuccino, Crowne Plaza, Alwarpet

Indian, Pan Asian, European, Health Food, Middle Eastern breakfast they say. I am definitely trying this sometime soon. If you have, please leave your comments for me!
