Back to back from amma’s kitchen. Here’s one more thing i love right from when i was a kid, my grandma used to make for evening snack. Amani Kozhakatai (Steamed Rice-flour Mini Dumplings) is usually made for kids, its pretty easy to make and very tasty for the simple ingredients it has in it. Cherishing all my childhood favorite dishes now as you can see, here’s how she does it!
Ingredients
Rice Flour – 1 cup
Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
Urud dal – 1/2 tsp
Red chillies – 1 or 2 according to taste
Curry leaves – few
Coconut oil to saute
Salt to taste
Method
Boil water in a pan and a drop of oil and enough salt to it.
Add the rice flour and stir well to form a dough without forming lumps.
Make small dumplings out of the dough.
Steam for 15 to 20 mins in a pressure cooker.
Meanwhile, fry the mustard seeds, urud dal, curry leaves and red chilly
Season the kuzhukatais once they are ready with this.
These can be had with chutney or ketchup or just like that!
