Another innovative recipe but this time its my Brat’s kitchen! One fine Sunday morning, well afternoon actually when i woke up a ‘lil’ late, he had already made this yummy rice from the channa i had soaked overnight and surprised me :D! All of us have had Chenna in various forms but mostly in a gravy or as a cold starter, this one was very different and appetizing to even look at! Lets a take a look at how he went bout it… Channa Rice Recipe from my dear hubby’s kitchen!

Channa Rice Recipe

Ingredients
Channa (Chickpeas) – 1 cup – soaked in water overnight
Cooked rice – 1 cup
Onion – 1 large sized
Jeera – 1 tbsp
Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tsp
Channa Masala – 1 tsp
Red Chilli Powder – 1/2 tsp
Cinnamon/cloves/bayleaves – few
Oil to saute
Salt to taste

Method
Pressure cook the channa or microwave it for around 10 minutes (checkin it every 2 minutes).
In a kadai, take a little oil, add the masalas, jeera and ggp.
Add finely chopped onion and fry until golden brown.
Add the cooked channa, red chilli powder, channa masala and salt, mix well.
Add cooked rice, toss to mix.
Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves if you like it.
Serve with Tomato Ketchup and Potato Chips!

You may add tomatoes too if you want it typically, Brat excluded the tomatoes and coriander since he hates ’em and this came out amazingly different!
