Lets welcome the new year with one of my fav sweets …. in the easiest way possible to make.. no m not talkin bout the instant one available in shops.. this ones from scratch.. check it out!
Gulab Jamun Recipe
Maida – 1 cup
Milk – close to 1 litre
Ghee – 1/2 cup
Sugar/baking soda – 1 pinch each
For the syrup:
Sugar – 2 cups
Water – 2 cups
Rose/Vanilla essence – 1 drop
Elatchi (Cardamom) – around 5 pieces – crushed
Boil milk, keep it in low flame till it becomes half its quantity.
Cool it to add a pinch of sugar and baking soda.
Mix in the maida slowly and prepare a dough.
Keep it aside for a couple of hours.
Apply a little ghee in your hand and make balls out of the dough.
Heat the remaining ghee and fry the balls.
Boil the water and sugar separately, add the crushed cardamom.
Take care to stop in the right syrup consistency, filter and add rose essence.
Drop the balls into this syrup and let it stay for few hours.
Serve hot or chilled with vanilla ice-cream!
