Yea am all for instant recipes nowadays, what do u do when u ve to stay home all day, don want to ea too much but want to keep making something! I make 4 idli cakes in the oven so i can make something else after few hours 😛 but when its this simple and easy (and ur missin normal idlis for months now!) its so worth it! So lets check out my instant rava idlies that taste just right only baked not steamed!
Instant Baked Rava Idli Cakes Recipe
Ingredients
Rava (Sooji) – 1 cup
Curd (Plain Yoghurt) – 4 to 5 tbsp
Mustard Seeds – 1/4 tsp
Channa Dal – 1 tsp
Green Chillies – 1 – slit or chopped
Turmeric Powder (optional) – 1/4 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil to saute
Method
Soak the rava in curd for 10 minutes, add salt.
Meanwhile, splutter mustard seeds in a tsp of oil, fry channa dal and green chilly, add to batter.
You can also add chopped curry/coriander leaves, grated carrots and fried cashews.
Grease a baking dish with butter and pour the batter evenly through.
Bake in a pre-heated oven (200 degrees) for around 10 minutes.
Do not overcook, unless u want rava biscuits!!
Tilt the dish into a plate, piece into any shape.
Serve with onion chutney!!
You can make the idlis a bit thicker, i like them as slices so have made them pretty thin. You can also use a muffin tray for regular round idlis.
