I really dint know what to call this (initially thought of the name ‘bajji babies’ :P)! This is something like kunuku, usually made with leftover adai batter (soaked and ground lentils) but i have made it instantly with flours (when it starts to rain on a sunday afternoon and you crave something hot and crisp, it has to be instant rite?). I ve made it with rice, gram and corn flour, u can also add rava (as in a classic kunuku recipe) to make it more crisp and yummy. How ever this is made, its an awesome comfort food and trust me, noone can have just one!

Instant Kunuku / Indian Hush Puppies Recipe
Ingredients
Rice Flour – 1 cup
Gram Flour – 1 cup
Corn Flour – 1/2 cup
Rava (Sooji) – 1/2 cup (optional)
Red Chilli Powder – 1 to 2 tbsp
Baking Soda – 2 pinches
Salt to taste
Oil to deep fry

Method
Make a batter out of the ingredients, as thick as that for pakoras (thicker than bhajji).
If you like to spice it up a bit, you can add shopped ginger, green chillies, coriander leaves and minced onions, technically making it a pakoda of sorts!
Deep fry small balls (or weird shapes like i did) in refined oil (make sure the heat is perfect).
Remove when its deep fried well. crisp and rises above.
Serve hot with tomato ketchup!

Cut out on the gram flour and red chilli powder, add maida (all purpose flour) and sugar instead, there you got truly American Hush Puppies!
