Alright, here is my first post for participating in an event, i donno how it works exactly so am just following the rules given at Nivedita’s kitchen for this event Celebrate Sweets – Halwa. The rules are simple post an halwa recipe and email nivedita.mt@gmail.com with the event as subject line. So now m so enthused to participate in all these events i c on foodie bloggers facebook pages and since i have this bread halwa recipe ready to be posted already i took this up first! i do have a few more events invitations pending which m sure am gonna be working on soon! So lets check this simple microwave bread halwa that my MIl taught me to do, its pretty quick and fool proof especially when you have a sudden craving for something sweet or want to treat some unexpected guests with something really nice but quick.. here we go.. microwave-made bread halwa recipe…

Microwave Bread Halwa Reci[e

Ingredients
Bread – 7 to 8 slices
Ghee – 5 tbsp
Sugar – 1/2 cup (or more if u have a sweet tooth)
Milk – 3/4 of a cup
Elatchi (Cardamom) Powder – 1/2 tsp
Saffron – a pinch (waemed in milk) (optional)
Cashews and raisins – handful (roasted in ghee)

Method
Cut the crust off the bread slices and grind them in a mixer with the milk.
Mix in the sugar, grind it once again.
In a microwave safe bowl, heat the ghee for about two minutes.
Now add the bread mixture, microwave around 5 minutes, occasionally stirring.
Add the saffron and cardamom powder, mix well and microwave for another 5 minutes.
Add more ghee or sugar as per need and give it another 5 minutes in the microwave.
Once the ghee separates, garnish with the roasted cashews and raisins, serve hot!

You can also use small pieces of bread in ghee instead of grinding it into a paste, might just take a fewm inutes more to do it (use powdered sugar in that case)!
