Being a foodie is not such an easy job as one might think it is. And being foodie and having weird cravings, is definitely not an easy job on the husband :P! But thankfully Brat is a foodie too and loves to cook! And tries his best to keep up with my random cravings and aversions at random hours of the day! Well at most times I do have the same craving until he finishes making it… and sometimes not :D! Here’s one of the many potato dishes that he is awesome at making and baking is definitely his department at home.. Au-Gratin Potatoes!

Potato Au Gratin Recipe

Ingredients
3 Huge potatoes – peeled and partially boiled
Butter – 2 to 3 tbsp
Milk – 1 cup
Cheddar Cheese- 1 cup grated
All purpose flour (Maida) – 2 tbp
Thick Cream – 2 tbsp (optional)
Garlic Powder / Crushed garlic – 1/2 tsp
Freshly ground black pepper – 1/2 to 3/4 of a tsp
Salt to taste

Method
Preheat Oven to 350 – 400 degrees
Dice the boiled potatoes into semi-thin slices
Melt the butter in a pan and add the flour to it
Now bring in the milk, garlic powder, salt and pepper, stir well
Lower the heat and slowly add the cheddar cheese
Add the thick cream now if using, mix well without forming lumps
Grease a baking dish with butter and layer the potatoes and the sauce one above after the other
Bake for around 45 minutes, let stand for 5 minutes

Leave it to bake a bit longer if you like it crispy n not creamy!
