Chennaifoodreviews.com – That Mallu Joint
So we were here for the Onam Sadhya, a day ahead of Onam to avoid the crowd. But crowded it was! After a twenty minute waiting time, we were eager to pounce in on the yummy spread that many of us wait for all year all!
The service was very slow and poor, customers were not attended to, although the crowd was more, they could’ve assigned a waiter for a table so the dishes came on time or when requested for. So after watching a few frustrated customers screaming at the management, we still wanted to give them a chance hoping the taste would be exceptional. Also cos we didn’t even get water in our table to start with.
Ghee rice and Fried potato
Finally, the Sadhya arrived, the usual avial, thooran, molagootal, etc. I didn’t even know the difference between each dish as everything looked and tasted the same. Pappadam was provided only on request and only after we almost got our hands dried. I really looked forward to the Pal Ada Pradhaman which was write my papers a hugeee let down, I make much yummier ones at home!
We also ordered ghee rice and fried potato which was again nothing to write home about.
Ambiance – 4/5
Food – 2.5 / 5
Service – 1/5
Will I go back again – NO there are so many Keralan options in the city now
Anyway the festive spirit was high with pookolam and people seemed to had a nice time (among themselves)
